Buemi to stand in for Ammermuller again.

Sebastien Buemi will get a second chance to impress the GP2 Series fraternity further when he steps in for Michael Ammermuller once again for the latest round of the championship at the Nurburgring.

Formula 3 Euroseries front runner Buemi made his GP2 debut at Monaco where he stunned onlookers by qualifying fourth and finishing seventh in a car he has barely driven.

As such, when ART Grand Prix and Red Bull agreed that Ammermuller was still hobbled by the wrist injury that has so far plagued his season, Buemi was the obvious choice to get to stand in.

QI-Meritus to race in Asia again.

The QI-Meritus team will return to compete in the upcoming GP2 Asia Series following a successful maiden appearance in the championship last season.

The Malaysian-based team assumed the 13th and final GP2 Asia entry for last year's inaugural season after regular competitors Racing Engineering announced they wouldn't be taking part.

With the new GP2 Series Champions once again deciding to sit out this year's championship, QI-Meritus will fill their position with another two driver effort.

Monfardini forced to pull out of sprint race.

Further to Durango's exclusion, the GP2 grid will be reduced to 23 for the Silverstone sprint race after Ferdinando Monfardini was not cleared to race following his heavy crash in the feature event.

The Italian had been on course to secure more points for the DAMS team but lost control of his car and hit the wall heavily, destroying his car and landing himself in hospital.

Although he escaped with no serious injuries, Monfardini was kept in overnight for precaution and it was suggested that he should pull himself out of the running.

Nirei Fukuzumi will move up to the FIA Formula 2 championship for 2018 after Arden Motorsport and Honda reached an agreement.

The Japanese 20-year-old, who is part of Honda’s junior driver programme, has spent the past two seasons in the GP3 Series with ART Grand Prix and finished in third place to George Russell and Jack Aitken in the drivers’ championship last season.

Nicholas Latifi extended his lead at the top of the FIA Formula 2 drivers' championship after winning Sunday's Sprint Race at the Baku City Circuit.

Williams Formula 1 test driver Latifi was able to battle through to the lead in another truncated F2 race in Baku that featured three Safety Car periods, resulting in the race being run to time once again

Latifi managed to take the lead before half-distance after passing early front-runner Sean Gelael, and saw off challenges from Juan Manuel Correa and Nyck de Vries to clinch his second win of the season.
