Four excluded at Zandvoort

Four Audi drivers have been excluded from the fourth round of the DTM season at Zandvoort due to infringements following the Dutch race.

Having finished in fourth place, Alex Premat was excluded from the results after being 'significantly too late' for post-race weight checks, while the same indiscretion also saw Timo Scheider excluded from eighth place.

Ickx forced out of Zandvoort race.

Vanina Ickx will not start the seventh round of the DTM after rolling her Audi A4 in qualifying at Zandvoort, her mechanics being unable to repair her car in time.

Ickx was battling to make it into the second knockout stage of qualifying but spun at Scheivlak, the Futurecom run Audi digging into the gravel and rolling over.

Although unharmed, the Belgian's car cannot be fixed in time for her to make the start line, much to her disappointment.

Audi withdraw all cars mid-race.

There was a dramatic end to the penultimate DTM race of the season at Barcelona when Audi sensationally withdrew all of its cars with only a few laps of the race remaining.

It is unsure as to the exact reasoning behind the decision to pull the five remaining A4s from the race, but title contenders Mattias Ekstrom and Martin Tomczyk had already been eliminated from the race by Mercedes drivers Mika Hakkinen and Daniel La Rosa, while fellow works driver Timo Scheider was also forced out after a collision with Daniel La Rosa.

DTM to get new fuel supplier.

The DTM has announced that it is to switch to a new fuel supplier from the next round of the championship season at the Nurburgring.

Series promoters ITR have reached agreement with Aral AG to supply the DTM racers with its premium fuel - as will be the case with the Formula 3 Euro Series, the ADAC Volkswagen Cup, the Formula BMW ADAC Championship, the Porsche Carrera Cup and the Seat Leon Supercopa which form the DTM support package.

Aral will also have an extensive advertising campaign at DTM events.

DTM confirms 2019 calendar, W Series to support

DTM officials have confirmed a nine-round calendar for the 2019 season featuring two new circuits, Zolder and Assen, while the recently-launched W Series will appear on the support bill at a number of select events.

DTM's governing body, the ITR, confirmed the new calendar on Friday morning that features one fewer round than the 2018 schedule, albeit with two joint events in collaboration with Super GT set to still be announced.

Aston Martin signs ex-F1 driver di Resta to head DTM assault

Aston Martin has signed ex-Formula 1 driver Paul di Resta to lead its assault on the DTM for the 2019 season.

The 2010 DTM champion makes the switch from the Mercedes-HWA squad following the German manufacturer’s withdrawal from the championship at the end of last year.

Aston Martin joins the series in partnership with R-Motorsport and HWA, making di Resta a prime candidate for a 2019 seat.

BMW completes 2019 DTM line-up with van der Linde

BMW has completed its DTM line-up for the 2019 season by confirming 19-year-old Sheldon van der Linde in its final race seat.

Van der Linde finished as runner-up in the ADAC GT Masters in 2018, taking two race wins, and was handed his maiden run-out in a DTM car at the end-of-year test with BMW.

Rast 'proud' of comeback after 'incredible year'

Rene Rast says he's 'proud' of himself and Audi after coming to within just four points of successfully defending his 2017 DTM crown following a sensational second half of the season.

Rast and Audi looked down and out of the 2018 title race earlier in the year after the Team Rosberg driver found himself 104 points adrift of the championship summit nine races into the season.

Paul di Resta's 2018 championship campaign ended in disappointment after the Mercedes driver missed out on the DTM title by 22-points to his team mate Gary Paffett at the Hockenheimring.

The former F1-star arrived into final weekend of the year with a four-point advantage as the championship leader ahead of team mate Paffett.

However, while Paffett took the title after finishing no lower than fourth during the two races over the weekend, Di Resta ultimately slipped to third in the standings behind Audi's Rene Rast after registering just four-points to his name.

Newly-crowned two-time DTM champion Gary Paffett has described winning the 2018 drivers' title, 13-years after his previous championship winning success, as 'the best day of his life'.

The 37-year old took third position during today's [Sunday] second race to win the title by just four-points ahead of outgoing champion Rene Rast, who won the season finale for Audi.

Paffett arrived into the final weekend of the season trailing his Mercedes team mate Paul di Resta by four-points, but heavily outscored the former F1-driver by 26-points over the course of the finale.

Red Bull F1 tester Dennis gets Aston Martin DTM seat for 2019

Red Bull Formula 1 tester Jake Dennis has sealed a drive with the R-Motorsport Aston Martin DTM squad for the 2019 season.

The Blancpain GT regular is the second driver to be confirmed at Aston Martin for its maiden forray into the DTM, after ex-F1 driver and 2010 DTM champion Paul di Resta was announced at the Swiss squad earlier on Thursday.

Dennis drove for R-Motorsport in the 2018 Blancpain GT Endurance Cup in its Vantage GT3 and also took part in F1 in-season testing with Red Bull at Barcelona last year.

Rast takes sixth straight win, Paffett crowned champion

Gary Paffett has secured the 2018 DTM drivers' title for Mercedes after finishing the final race of the season on the podium in third behind race winner Rene Rast and Marco Wittmann at the Hockenheimring.

Paffett arrived into the title decider with a seven-point championship lead ahead of his Mercedes team mate Paul di Resta, and a 14-point lead ahead of outgoing champion Rast.

However, with Di Resta starting the second race from eleventh, the race for the title proved to be a straight fight between the Mercedes of Paffett and the Audi of Rast.

Wittmann secures final DTM pole of 2018

Two-time DTM champion Marco Wittmann will start the final race of the 2018 season from pole position after beating title contender Rene Rast in qualifying at the Hockenheimring.

The BMW driver endured a miserable Saturday at Hockenheim after an FP3 crash forced him out of qualifying, before registering a 16th place finish in race one.

However, Wittmann hit back in triumphant fashion after sending his BMW M4 to the top of the timesheets ahead of Audi's Rast during the final 20-minute shootout of the year.

Haas F1 test driver Fittipaldi gets Audi 2019 DTM drive

Haas Formula 1 test driver Pietro Fittipaldi will compete in the 2019 DTM championship with the WRT Audi squad.

The grandson of two-time F1 world champion Emerson has signed for a full-season assault on the series having taken part in the official pre-season test at the Lausitzring.

Fittipaldi, 22, will partner Formula 3 racer Jonathan Aberdein in the Belgian outfit’s driver line-up for its maiden DTM campaign.
